Matheran: Hill Station in Raigad

Matheran is one of the exquisite hill station in Maharashtra.  Matheran was founded by Hogh Poyntz Malet in May 1850.It is situated on the Raigad district and located on the Western Ghats. It ranges an elevation around 800m from the sea level.
Matheran has covered by forest because of this it has 38 enthralling points which gives us amazing and attracting views, It includes 2 lakes, 2 parks, 4 worship. It is linked to town of Neral at the base of hills. Matheran announced an Eco-sensitive region by the Union Environment Ministry and it has called Health Sanatorium in itself. The main thing is that the vehicles being banned to maintain its uniqueness. The British developed Matheran to become a popular resort to beat summer heat in the region.

Tourist Attraction:
  • Mount Berry: It is one of the popular destination that is located on Neral near Matheran. It shows bird’s eye view. The major attraction is the slow train come apart the hill in the midst of earliest natural beauty.
  • Charlotte Lake: It is also known as Sharlott Lake. It is one of the quaintest spot in Matheran. Beside the lake there is Pisarnath temple and two picnic spot which named Louisa& echo point. 
  • Valley Crossing: If you want to do adventurous activity then this is the right place to visit. Valley crossing by a rope accomplished at Honeymoon point.

Tip For Visitor: The best season to visit this is Monsoon (During last week of June to October end).

How to Reach:

By Air: The nearest airport is in Mumbai is located around 100 km from Matheran.

By Rail: Matheran is linked to toy train to maintain rail route at Neral Junction, and station is well connected by local trains that is Pune-Mumbai.

By Road: Matheran is located about 100 km from Mumbai & 120 km from Pune.
