Pench: Combo Tiger Reserve

Pench tiger reserve is the combo project of Maharashtra & Madhya Pradesh states of India. The name Pench to the national park is given from the Pench River which nearly divides National park in two equal parts. This national park is located in the Nagpur District of Maharashtra and in Seoni & Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh. This national park is spread over area of 758 sq km.  Out of which a core area is of 299 sq km. Maharashtra government was declared Pench as the National park in 1975 & received status of “Tiger Reserve of India” in February 1999.
Pench is surrounded by several Tiger reserves. Tadoba national park (In Chandrapur district, Maharashtra), Nagzira national park (In Gondia district, Maharashtra), Bandhavgarh national park (In Umari district, Madhya Pradesh) & Kanha national park (In Mandala and Balghat districts , Madhya Pradesh) you can add these national parks in the tour of the Pench national park.
The area of the tiger reserve has a magnificent history. In Ain-i-Akabari the description of natural wealth & richness is occurs. Pench tiger reserve & its neighbourhood is setting of the Rudyard Kipling’s, The Jungle Book.

Rules of Pench National Park:
  1. Pench National Park is open for visitors only during 1st October to 30th June in each year & remains closed in rainy season.
  2. Pench National park is open to visit only during visiting hours from 6 AM to 11 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM.
  3. Only 15 seater buses & light vehicles are allowed.
  4. Visitors must be follow speed restriction.

Various geniuses of Animal & Plant found in National Park:
Plant Life: There are many species found in the national park. Some of them are Ain, Haldu, Bamboo, Tendu, Char and Arjun.
Animal Life: This national park is the home of 33 geniuses of Mammals, 50 geniuses of fish, 164 geniuses of birds, 10 geniuses of amphibians & 30 geniuses of reptiles.
Among them mostly Tiger, Sloth beer, Leopard, Sambhar, Blue Bull, Wild Boar, Indian Bison, Wild Dogs, Jackal, Flaying Squirrel, Langur, Monkey, Mouse Deer, Pangolin, Porcupine are found in National Park.

How to Reach:
By Air: Nagpur (70 km from Pench) is the nearest Airport.

By Rail: Nagpur (70 km from Pench) is the nearest railway station.
By Road: There is regular bus service from Ramtek (35 km) to pench.
